Job Description
Flipside Crypto is looking for a talented and driven Data Analyst to join our Internal Analytics team. This individual will be responsible for writing and maintaining data pipelines, understanding our business programs through the analysis of both internal data and public blockchain data, and creating reports and analyses that drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role is critical to the programmatic delivery of internal business intelligence to our Finance and Leadership teams.
The ideal candidate will combine data engineering and analysis experience to own the entire reporting pipeline, from ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) through modeling, analysis, and presentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate data-driven findings to a variety of stakeholders are essential for this role. Productive cross-functional collaboration is crucial to meeting business goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Data Pipelines and Modeling
1. Design, Develop, and Maintain Data Pipelines: Create robust data pipelines to support the Finance and Product team’s data needs.
2. Integrate Diverse Data Sources: Combine data from internally-generated product data, human-collected operational data, and publicly available blockchain data into useful models and views.
3. Implement Industry-Standard Data Design Patterns: Utilize the Medallion Architecture to simplify maintenance and enable adoption across the Internal Analytics team.
4. Build Business Intelligence Models: Develop and support business intelligence models (Star Schema) for downstream reporting and analysis.
Data Analysis and Reporting
1. Analyze Data: Examine financial, product, and operational data to provide actionable insights and build understanding.
2. Develop Dashboards and Reports: Create and maintain dashboards and reports using SQL and Python-based data visualization tools.
3. Communicate Findings: Present findings in written and verbal formats, both synchronously and asynchronously, as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Data Integrity
1. Work Closely with Teams: Collaborate with the Finance and Product teams to define and document their requirements, delivering solutions that meet their needs.
2. Ensure Visibility: Maintain organization-wide visibility into business intelligence work with clear and consistent communication, using basic project management skills to ensure timely delivery of commitments.
3. Investigate Data: Build a deep understanding of our business systems and data pipelines to investigate anomalous or interesting data, ensuring quality and intelligibility of downstream reporting.
Qualifications
Required
1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
2. Experience: 2+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, business intelligence, or a similar role.
3. Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in SQL (any dialect is acceptable, though we use Snowflake SQL).
o Experience with ELT tools and data pipeline frameworks.
o Familiarity with data warehouse/lakehousearchitectures for business intelligence.
o Strong analytical skills with the ability to integrate and interpret complex data sets.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred
1. Data Visualization Tools: Experience with tools such as Tableau, Looker, Superset, Mode, Preset, Abacum, or similar.
2. Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Knowledge: Demonstrated interest in blockchain and cryptocurrencymarkets.
3. Data Transformation and Pipelining Tools: Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, or other related tools.
4. Financial Modeling: Experience with financial modeling techniques.
