Position Overview:
We’re on the lookout for a dedicated resident Equine Veterinarian to join our dynamic team at Widden Valley Veterinary Services. This full-time position offers the chance to immerse yourself in the world of equine reproduction and medicine, catering to the needs of our esteemed clients at Baramul Stud.
Location:
Picture yourself amidst the tranquil beauty of Widden Valley, just a short 45-minute drive from Denman in the NSW Hunter Valley. Baramul Stud, our esteemed workplace, is home to 250-300 broodmares and progeny, offering a picturesque backdrop for your veterinary endeavors.
Selection Criteria:
We’re seeking candidates with:
A Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent qualification, with eligibility for full registration in New South Wales, Australia.
Availability for on-call duties, especially during the breeding season.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
The ability to work independently or within a team with a calm demeanour.
Previous experience in a veterinary practice or Thoroughbred stud farm is advantageous
Role Responsibilities:
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
• Providing comprehensive care for all horses on the farm, including diagnostic work, treatments, and minor surgeries.
• Generating veterinary reports for insurance purposes and management.
• Collaborating with Equine Hospitals for serious injuries.
• Conducting palpation work on mares during the breeding season.
• Assisting in challenging foal deliveries when necessary.
•Conducting conformation assessments of foals.
• Potential future involvement in specialized surgeries and diagnostic procedures.
